Bungie officially launches fundraising campaign Guardians for Australia

By Heidi Nicholas,
"As Guardians, it's our duty to assist those in need". Destiny 2 developer Bungie has launched their Guardians for Australia fundraising campaign. Profits from their limited time T-shirt will be split between two groups: WIRES, Australia's largest wildlife rescue organisation, and the New South Wales Rural Fire Service.

The t-shirt is available on the Bungie store for $24.99 and on the Bungie Store EU for €27.99. It'll be available to purchase until Tuesday, February 18th at 9am PT/5pm GMT, when it will end along with the weekly reset and the end of Crimson Days. The t-shirt also comes with a Destiny 2 "Star Light, Star Bright" emblem redemption code.

Bungie isn't alone in donating towards those battling the bushfires and their devastating effects. Infinity Ward, who renamed their Outback Pack to the Outback Relief Pack, are donating the net proceeds from the pack to the efforts in Australia. Ubisoft Australia donated AU$30,000 to the Australian Red Cross, and urged its Twitter following to also donate to an organisation. Crytivo, the team behind the Universim god-sim on Steam, have announced that 100% of the net proceeds from Crytivo Store sales of the Universim will go towards the efforts, along with 30% of proceeds from Steam sales.

There's been some cooler conditions and rain, but there are still 100 fires burning across New South Wales and Victoria. 28 people have been killed, including four firefighters, and it's estimated that 100,000 square kilometres of bush, forest and parks, across Australia have burned. The fires have consumed over 2,000 houses in New South Wales alone. The uncontrolled fires continue to burn as of today. (Source: BBC News. )

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
