Could Face-Off return in Modern Warfare? By Heidi Nicholas, 21 Jan 2020 CommentsInfinity Ward's Co-Design Director of Multiplayer Joe Cecot recently took to Twitter to ask what maps and variants Modern Warfare players might want to see added to the game in future. When one player mentioned they'd like to see the return of Modern Warfare 3's Face Off, Cecot replied to say he loved the idea. It seems that Infinity Ward may have even talked about it already: Face Off was a mode in Modern Warfare with 1v1, 2v2, or 3v3 players on smaller maps, and could be played through private or public matches, and on split-screen. It's very similar to the Gunfight mode already in Modern Warfare, so it's unclear how they would differentiate the one from the other if they were to bring it back; they could, as suggested, bring back some of the maps created specifically for Face Off when it was first introduced to Modern Warfare 3 as DLC; like Erosion and Aground. Cecot also chatted on Twitter about some other player ideas. It sounds as though this is all in the future, though; right now, players are still waiting for Infinity Ward's next update for some of the game's still-prevalent bugs. Cecot responded to players on Twitter asking about a fix for killfeeds, saying that the update was on its way that week — that was two weeks ago, but, from Infinity Ward's latest Community Update, it seems an update has now been confirmed for this week. Infinity Ward, who've also been in the news for their contributions towards the efforts against the bushfires in Australia, recently announced their decision to extend Season One of Modern Warfare until February, saying that there'll be new challenges, items, modes, playlists, and a crossbow on their way to the game over the next few weeks. We'll let you know when the update arrives.Xbox One Written by Heidi NicholasHey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
