Poll: What do you think was the biggest gaming news/trend of the decade?

By Sean Carey,
It's Friday which means it's time for another TA poll. Last week, with all the buzz about The Division 2 potentially coming to Xbox Game Pass we asked you if you'd jump into the third-person shooter if it came to the service. The results were incredibly close, with 50.73% of you saying you would and 49.27% saying no.

This week, we are taking a look back at years gone by. A decade has swiftly breezed on by, and a lot has changed in the world of video games in that time. If you haven't seen it already, we had a reminisce about all of the big changes we've seen in the video game industry across the past ten years. The battle royale genre hit dizzying heights with PUBG and Fortnite smashing records. We've also seen the live service game take a foothold, and of course, the microtransaction/loot box make vast profits for some, while policymakers and doctors argue about the legalities of the monetisation mechanic.

For this week's poll, we want to know what you think the defining news/trend for video games was? Let us know by voting in the poll and by sharing your opinion in the comments.

Hey everyone! I'm Sean. I have been writing gaming content for various outlets over the past few years while studying a degree in Journalism. I grew up on everything PlayStation — mainly Metal Gear Solid, with a brief foray into the world of Xbox. Nowadays, you'll find me mainly playing multiplayer PC games, but with the recent addition of the Xbox Game Pass for PC, I'm looking forward to improving my TA Score.
