Metro Exodus DLC Sam's Story releases next month

By Sean Carey,
The second expansion for Metro Exodus, Sam's Story is coming to Xbox One, PS4, PC and Stadia next month on February 11 as announced over on the Metro Exodus website.

According to the post, the second expansion is a sandbox-survival DLC where players will "forge Sam's path on his journey through Vladivostok on his mission to find his way home to the USA." Sam has dreamed of returning to the United States and hopes to find his family alive, and when the Spartans discovered that Moscow was not the only city left alive after the war, his hope was rekindled.

"Sam makes his way away from the Aurora in search of a way back to the USA, arriving at the remains of Vladivostok’s tsunami-ravaged harbours, ruined industrial buildings, and crumbling residential districts. To complete his journey, Sam will discover that he needs every tactic he has learned so far to survive, as his surroundings prove to be far trickier than expected."

"In this additional sandbox survival level, players of Metro Exodus experience another gripping story with new characters, weapons and mutant variants in a huge, non-linear environment that offers numerous hours of immersive gameplay."

Other than the website's official description, a picture of a sinking gun and submarine and the tweet that says "The Journey Ends," that's all developer 4A Games has said about the DLC. We expect to hear more about Sam's Story in the coming weeks.

Metro Exodus' first DLC, The Two Colonels came out back in August 2019, and it received eight new achievements worth 200 Gamerscore. We expect Sam's Story to have achievements too, but we won't know for definite until we pick up the achievement list.

Metro Exodus is available to play in Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass for PC with its own separate Windows 10 achievement list.

Although we don't have a price on the DLC just yet, you can pick up the Metro Exodus Expansion Pass which will set you back $24.99/£19.99/€24.99.

The Metro Exodus Expansion Pass will contain two major pieces of story-driven DLC for the game, following brand new stories from the world of Metro. Instead of Artyom, players will have the chance to see through the eyes of a brand new character and of one of the Spartan Rangers, the Aurora’s only American, Sam.

Sam's Story launches on February 11.
