Pillars of Eternity 2 finally arrives on Xbox One By Heidi Nicholas, 28 Jan 2020 FollowtopicsPillars Of Eternity II: DeadfirePillars Of EternityVersus EvilID@XboxXbox Game PassTurn BasedHeidi Nicholas Pillars Of Eternity II: Deadfire is finally available for Xbox players. It's been over a year and a half since it came out for PC; a long wait for console players, but it's released today for Xbox One.Console fans aren't strangers to long waits for Pillars of Eternity games; there was a two year gap between the PC and console release for the first game. Thankfully, Xbox players haven't had to wait as long for the sequel. Plus, the wait means that the Ultimate Edition of Pillars of Eternity II contains all of the updates and expansions already released for PC. It costs around $59.99/£49.99 on the Xbox store, and gets you all three DLCs: Beast of Winter, The Forgotten Sanctum, and Seeker, Slayer, Survivor. Pillars of Eternity II is an RPG in which the player is the Watcher of Caed Nua, and has to go up against the god Eothas, who's woken up from his slumber and stolen a part of their soul. The god is on a rampage across the Deadfire Archipelago, decimating and destroying everything around him. The player and their companions will be travelling through the open world of the Deadfire on their ship, The Defiant. The game promises over 100 hours of gameplay for each playthrough, whilst the DLCs add to it further:Beast of Winter: the Watcher has been summoned to the southernmost edge of the Deadfire Archipelago, where the people worship Rymrgand, god of disaster, and see the player as Duskspeaker, the one who heralds the end. They set the player on a journey to Hel to fight the monsters of the Beyond, and an ancient dragon. They'll be aided in their quest by Vatnir, a priest of Rymrgand and an Endings Godlike.Seeker, Slayer, Survivor: this DLC is more combat focused and set on an entirely new island. The island is littered with ancient relics, and is where the most elite warriors of Eora come to compete before the gods in the Crucible of Kazuwari. The Forgotten Sanctum: the wizards of Eora need the Watcher's help after a tremor upsets the Deadfire islands. Archmage Maura has vanished after a new dungeon was opened in the Black Isles, and is now at risk of awakening the terrors there. The dungeon in question is built into the body of a god, and uncovering its secrets will pit the Watcher with or against the powerful wizards of the land. The Pillars of Eternity II achievements look like a pretty comprehensive list. 16 are secret, but of the rest, there seems to be a fair mix of story progression, exploration, combat, upgrades, and creating bombs, potions, and spells. The long wait for is finally over: Pillars of Eternity II is available today, and, considering that we may not get a Pillars of Eternity III, it's good that fans can at last get their Pillars of Eternity II fix on Xbox.Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire - Ultimate EditionThe award-winning RPG from the masters at Obsidian Entertainment finally arrives on Xbox One, featuring all major updates and expansions.
