Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 2's trailer appears to have leaked ahead of launch

By Sam Quirke,
An Activision account on Xbox Live appears to have leaked the trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's second season, ahead of its launch tomorrow. This news comes to us via Call of Duty stat tracking website CODtracker.gg. It features a couple of throwbacks to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in its new maps and also features the return of Ghost, as hinted at in Activision's official tease a few days ago.

The trailer shows a reworked Ghost along with the return of the multiplayer map Rust from Modern Warfare 2. It also mentions two new weapons, which according to another leak reported by Dexerto are likely to be the GRAU 5.56 and the Striker 45. Dexerto speculate that the weapons will likely be available via the Battle Pass along with Ghost, though it's unclear whether any of that content will be earnable outside of the Battle Pass.

What the leak reported by Dexerto didn't reveal was the other maps being added as part of Season 2. Rust isn't the only Modern Warfare 2 throwback – Zhokov Boneyard is reportedly a rework of the Modern Warfare 2 map, here used as the Season's Ground War location. Two other maps link directly to the 2019 Modern Warfare's own content. CODtracker speculates that the Atlas Superstore map "bears a striking resemblance to the location found in Operation Paladin" in the game's SpecOps mode, while Bazaar, the new Gunfight map, is seemingly set in the home town of Farah from the campaign.

We're sure that full details about Season 2 will be revealed shortly, but thanks to these leaks we already have a pretty solid picture of what to expect.
