Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season Two officially announced — Rust and Ghost confirmed

After suffering numerous leaks, including the Season Two trailer from an Activision Xbox Live account, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Season Two has officially been announced by the Modern Warfare team.


Season Two starts tomorrow, February 11 and with it brings a bunch of new maps, new weapons, modes and a fan favourite, Ghost as a new operator. On day one of Season Two, new multiplayer maps including the legendary Rust from Modern Warfare 2 and Atlas Superstore. There's a new Ground War map called Zhokov Boneyard and new Gunfight maps including Bazaar and more that are unannounced. We also have two new Multiplayer modes, Gunfight Tournaments and CDL Playlist and a couple of new weapons, the GRAU 5.56 and the Striker 45.

Gunfight Tournaments is a limited-time mode. The Call of Duty website details the new mode as a "single elimination 2v2 firefight and battle to earn rewards. 32 teams will enter, but only one can be crowned Gunfight Tournament champion. Gunfight Tournaments will be live for a limited time.

CDL Playlist is based on the Call of Duty League ruleset, "Fight like the pros in this Call of Duty League ruleset playlist. In this playlist, the settings and available weapons, maps, and modes have been altered, so you can battle like the best of ‘em."

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season Two

The big addition that has previously been teased is that of the new operator, Simon "Ghost" Riley — a fan favourite character from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. You can get instant access to Ghost by purchasing the Battle Pass.

More content is planned to drop during the season, including the Khandor Hideout multiplayer map, two new operators, Talon and Mace, multiplayer modes including Infected Ground War, Gunfight Variants, NVG Reinforce and a new classified weapon.
