The Broken Hearts Day seasonal event arrives in Borderlands 3 later this week By Heidi Nicholas, 11 Feb 2020 CommentsGearbox have revealed their update roadmap for what's coming to Borderlands 3 in February and beyond. It's quite a lot: the Broken Hearts Day event, level cap increases, True Takedown Mode, and skippable cut scenes, among other changes, will all be arriving in the February patch, at 3pm PT on Thursday February 13th.Broken Hearts Day is a seasonal event with themed loot to match. The Saurian named Maurice in Sanctuary III is apparently hoping for help with understanding humans, and is handing out rewards to those who'll help him learn about their "courting rituals" by shooting down floating hearts. The hearts will start to appear around the time that the patch deploys, and there's several different varieties which react to shots in different ways; exploding, dropping loot, or even making enemies into allies for a short time. These hearts are apparently everywhere, but Maurice will somehow track how many you've managed to take out, and will, very thoughtfully, send you your rewards. Shooting ten hearts gets you the "ECHOcardiogram" ECHO Skin; 25 the "Cosmic Romance" Weapon Trinket, 50 the "Terminal Polyaimorous" Legendary Maliwan SMG, 75 the "Heartbreaker" Vault Hunter Skin, and 100 the "Wedding Invitation" Legendary Jakobs Sniper Rifle. Players have one week to take part in the event, and it ends at 8:59am PT on Thursday February 20th. If you decide shooting floating hearts isn't your thing, you can choose not to join in by opting out from the main menu.Gearbox have discussed True Takedown Mode before. Now, they say it "delivers the extreme difficulty we always intended for Takedown content by tuning the experience for a full party of four decked-out Vault Hunters." It can be accessed via the lever on the right of the door in the airlock at the beginning of the map, and will also go live in February's patch. Gearbox will also be raising the maximum level Vault Hunters can reach from 50 to 53. This will apparently only be the first of their planned level cap increases, all of which will be free additions to the game. February's patch will also give players the option to skip cutscenes, whether they've seen them before or not, during solo play. In multiplayer, it'll be the host's job to skip. Also arriving in the increasingly hefty February update is the option for players to disable specific perks associated with Guardian Ranks, or to disable the whole system. Gearbox are planning to expand the Guardian Rank system with more Perks. They say they want to add these in at the same time as the game's "second campaign add-on", but that they'll be separate from that content. There's a number of other improvements and updates coming with February's patch, and you can read those in full here. The patch should be arriving at 3pm PT on Thursday February 13th.Xbox One Written by Heidi NicholasHey, I'm Heidi!
