State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition: Free upgrade for owners and coming to Xbox Game Pass

By Sean Carey,
An "expanded and improved" version of State of Decay 2 has been announced over on Xbox Wire. The State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition adds a bunch of new content and makes several improvements over the standard edition, plus, it's free for all current State of Decay 2 owners and is launching into Xbox Game Pass.

The Juggernaut Edition comes to Xbox, Windows 10, Xbox Game Pass and Steam on March 13. If you already own the game, it will automatically be upgraded on that date. The new edition adds a brand new open-world map called Province Ridge — an old logging town. Changes are being made to the post-tutorial experience with it being completely reworked to make it easier for the player to learn the world of State of Decay 2. New weapons are on their way too. Heavy melee weapons will reward a player's skill and timing.

Not only that, but Undead Labs has also made several graphical enhancements including better lighting dynamics and foliage optimisation for better performance. The control scheme has had a small update, where dodge and stealth are now separated into different commands. The amount of music has doubled, and audio has been improved. Dozens of mission and gameplay bugs have also been fixed. Cross-network play is also coming with this edition — you'll soon be able to play with friends on Steam.

The new edition includes the three add on packs already released for State of Decay 2, including the Independence Pack, Daybreak Pack and State of Decay 2: Heartland. If you already own the Ultimate Edition or own Daybreak and Heartland, you will receive some exclusive in-game gifts. You'll need to log in on launch day to collect them.

State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition launches on March 13 for Xbox, Windows 10, Steam and into Xbox Game Pass.
