There might still be no release date, but Biomutant is definitely on the way By Heidi Nicholas, 19 Feb 2020 CommentsRemember Biomutant? Developers Experiment 101 call it a "post-apocalyptic kung-fu fable"; an intriguing mash-up of genres with an entirely cusotmisable raccoon/red panda sort of creature as its protagonist. Biomutant was announced a few years ago, and the last we heard of it was that it was supposed to release in summer of last year. The game seemed to have vanished, and the lack of any news more recent than 2018 led to fears it'd been cancelled. However, the devs have now confirmed it's on the way; and not only that, but that it's in the "final stages" of development."Let us assure you that we've never been working harder and more focused on it than now!" The post reads. "We are doing everything we can to make this the best game all of us have ever worked on and that it will be as entertaining and great as we can possibly make it. We can only hope for your continued support and patience as we complete the final stages of its development." There's no word on a release date, still, but the devs say they'll "reveal the release date as soon as everyone at our studio feels confident about hitting that date and that the game is ready for it". They mention the difficulties involved in making a game, saying, "as some of you might understand or know, the work involved in finishing a game is long, challenging and unpredictable. The sheer magnitude, size, and length of Biomutant adds to said effort". By all accounts, Biomutant is a massive game which defies all efforts to stuff it into one genre or another because of how much it's trying to do. Mark played it at PAX West when it was shown there in 2018, and said that it's "hard to nail down a genre", but that Biomutant "is shaping up to be fantastic". Hopefully, now that the devs have come forward to confirm Biomutant is not just on the way, but in the final stages of development, it won't be long until we get some news about a release date. We'll let you know when we learn more.Xbox One Written by Heidi NicholasHey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
