Fortnite's spy-themed "Top Secret" Season 2 is out today

By Heidi Nicholas,
Season 2 of Fortnite Chapter 2 is here, and it's spy-themed. Players have to choose between Ghost or Shadow missions with the new Battle Pass, which gets them new operatives, bonus styles, and 1,500 V-Bucks — and, eventually, Deadpool.

The Season 2 Battle Pass unlocks the Hideout and comes with more than 100 rewards. The island's been split between Ghost and Shadow, with players aiming to "infiltrate enemy bases, neutralise the henchmen guards and face off against their leader" in return for weapons and rewards. These bases will be riddled with secret passages and security cameras, and agents will be armed with gadgets like decoy grenades and disguises. The hideout has its own agents, such as Meowscles, the terrifying muscled creature with a kitten's head, gold-powered Midas, and Maya. Completing the season's weekly challenges will reward you with skin variants, following the themes of Ghost or Shadow; you'll choose which side you want to join for each mission, and that choice will be permanent. The battle pass still costs 950 V-Bucks, and gives you back 1,500. Deadpool also appears at the end of the Battle Pass trailer, along with the words: "Battle Pass now, Deadpool later".

There's also new additional limited time modes, skin wraps, and points of interest. Twitter user @LootLakeBR shared a look at some of these, including an oil rig, a secret base, and the Hideout itself. As VG247 pointed out, the size of the patch for Top Secret was surprisingly hefty, and turned out to be twice as big for Xbox as it was for the PS4; 26GB as opposed to 10-13GB.

Season 2 is out today, and players can buy the Battle Pass now.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
