The Kerbal Space Program franchise is getting a dedicated studio under Private Division By Sam Quirke, 20 Feb 2020 CommentsTake-Two and Private Division have founded a new studio in Seattle that will focus solely on the Kerbal Space Program franchise, as work continues on the anticipated sequel. While it looks unassuming to the untrained eye, Kerbal Space Program is far from a low-budget space adventure featuring some cute aliens – it's actually an engrossing and difficult emulation of the process of getting into space. Its complex, feature-rich gameplay has gathered a big following, especially on Steam, and the community have enjoyed all of the additional content that the original development team have been putting out.Private Division picked up the Kerbal Space Program franchise back in 2017, but with Kerbal Space Program 2 slated for a release between April 2020 and March 2021, it seems that the publisher is determined to help make the game great and ship it on time with this new setup. "Key members of the original Kerbal Space Program 2 development team" are still involved, including studio head Jeremy Ables, creative director Nate Simpson and lead producer Nate Robinson. It's not clear whether other members of original studio Star Theory Games have been re-allocated or let go, but the publisher is definitely hiring for new talent in Seattle – suggesting an expansion of the team and potential growth for the franchise in the future.Kerbal Space Program Breaking Ground expansion came to Xbox at the end of last year as part of the Enhanced Edition. It's unclear whether the introduction of this new studio will lead to any further updates for the first game on Xbox, but it certainly looks good for the future of the space-faring franchise.Credit to Daniel Ahmad for spotting the news.Industry NewsUpcoming ReleaseXbox One Written by Sam QuirkeSam has been a Newshound since 2016 and is now the Editor for both TrueAchievements and TrueTrophies.
