There's double XP and gold to be had in Sea of Thieves this Saturday

By Heidi Nicholas,
The Sea of Thieves team say that since we're getting a bonus day from the Leap Year, they're adding a bonus day into the game: double XP and gold will be up for grabs this Saturday, 29th February.

Chainshot update

There's a few events happening this weekend. They're bringing back Twitch Drops, starting on 10am GMT Saturday 29th and ending at 10am GMT on March 2nd. There's two rewards up for grabs, both on offer for 24 hours; so at 10am GMT Sunday, the reward will change. Anyone who watches the nominated streamers for half an hour can earn the Obsidian Fishing Rod on Saturday, and the Ebon Flintlock Pistol on Sunday.

Chainshot update

Rare's Hunter's Haul event is also still going, and doesn't end until 9th of March. It includes two weekly challenges, and the first is still available; deliver 120 fish to The Hunter's Call before March 1st, and your crew will earn 250 Dubloons. Taking 180 Ruby Splashtails to The Hunter's Call will reward you with the Gold Hauler Figurehead.

Chainshot update

The devs also gave a look at the upcoming Chainshot: a new cannonball projectile made up of two small cannonballs which have been connected by a chain. It's a powerful projectile, with the ability to smash masts in half. It's so powerful that the devs have reduced the range of the weapon to balance it out. Rare also say the game's next update will land in a few weeks on March 11th, bringing a new Tall Tale with it. We'll keep you posted.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
