Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will be getting a Randomizer mode instead of Roguelike

By Heidi Nicholas,
The Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night team has announced that the game won't be getting a Roguelike mode as they had originally planned. They'll be replacing it with a new Randomizer mode instead.

Roguelike was one of the longer-term stretch goals the team had planned to add to the game. In their latest Kickstarter update, they apologise that it's no longer to be included. "Unfortunately, the code that was created early in the game’s development is not currently compatible with this type of gameplay (especially a procedurally generated castle)", says Jason Ryan, Senior Community Manager for 505 Games. "Due to this, we regret to announce that we will not be developing Roguelike as part of the project's planned stretch goals. We know this is a mode that many of you were eagerly anticipating and we apologize that we will not be able to make it happen as planned.

"We don’t want to leave a hole in the roster," he continues, "so we have developed a new game mode called “Randomizer” to take its place." Ryan says that Randomizer will be released alongside Zangetsu and the Boss Revenge mode and that it will be free.

According to Ryan, "Randomizer is the story campaign you’re used to, but with a twist." Players will pick eight different game parameters — including the goal, key items, save/warp rooms, items, enemy drops, quests, shops, and crafting — which will be randomized. After picking the options you want, you can choose to "generate a seed" which you can then share with someone or save for your own use. The mode will also have a timer and will show you your completion time each time you finish a run. Ryan says there are more details to come — we'll keep you up to date with those as they arrive.

Bloodstained is currently available in both Xbox Game Pass and xCloud.
