Xbox Free Play Days: Rainbow Six Siege, PvZ Battle for Neighborville, and Black Desert

By Heidi Nicholas,
There's three games to try out for free this weekend, courtesy of Xbox Live Free Play Days: zany zombie third person shooter Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville, tactical first person shooter Rainbow Six Siege, and the huge action RPG world of Black Desert.

Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville™

New Festival content

Description: Kick some grass in Plants vs. Zombies Battle for Neighborville, the wackiest shooter yet! Unearth 20 fully customizable character classes at launch in one social region, three free-roam regions, one PvE mode, six PvP modes, including Battle Arena, and more!
Size: 18.6GB
As with last weekend's free play days, these titles are all more of a long-term challenge and each would need much longer than a weekend if you were aiming for 100% completion. Battle for Neighborville has an estimated completion time of over 200 hours alone. On the other hand, these free play days at least offer enough time to figure out if it's a game you're going to want to invest that much time in. Plus, picking up PvZ Battle for Neighborville over the weekend will drop you right in the middle of the game's Luck o' the Zombie festival, which is currently underway, with the chance to unlock a new Wizard Zombie.

Rainbow Six Siege is again reckoned to take around 80-100 hours to complete. This weekend is a great time to start learning your way around the game if you've been debating buying it; if you decide to stick with it after the free play days, you'll be just in time for Ubisoft to drop Operation Void Edge, which they're expected to do later this month.

Black Desert

27/10/18

Description: Black Desert is a revolutionary MMORPG that delivers intense, fast-paced combat, profitable life skills and an expansive open world. Slay monsters, abominations and gods, or engage in relaxing life skills like crafting, fishing and cooking. Become your true self in this truly open, open world MMORPG.
Size: 33GB
Black Desert is another one of those games where 100% completion seems a long way off — our site estimates it'll take over 200 hours. This title is in Xbox Game Pass, however, so if you decide to carry on with it once the free play days are over but you're not yet an Xbox Game Pass member, you could make use of the service's current three months for £1 offer. This would work out doubly well if you're also interested in gaining some extra Microsoft Rewards Points, since Black Desert is one of this month's Xbox Game Pass Quests; and Microsoft has just increased the rewards you'll get for completing them.

Black Desert - Standard Edition

The Black Desert Standard Edition digital bundle includes the full Black Desert game, a 30-day Value Pack, a Snow Wolfdog Pet, 1,000 Pearls to use in game. IMPORTANT: The item packages included in the bundles will only be sent to the server that corresponds to the region where the product is purchased.

All three of these titles should be available to play as Free Play Days over the weekend, when you'll be able to download them and play them for free until Monday.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
