New Tony Hawk game coming this year leaked by punk band

By Sean Carey,
It seems that the Australian punk band, The Dead Set has accidentally let slip that a new Tony Hawk game is in the works and is set to release this year. In a now-deleted Facebook post, the band revealed that they had licensed five of their songs to be used in an upcoming Tony Hawk title.

There have been numerous reports swirling around the internet about a new entry into the Tony Hawk franchise for a while now. When pro-skater, Lizzie Armanto was asked about her appearance in Tony Hawk's 5 during The Nine Club podcast, she revealed that the Hawk would be "coming out with another one" and she would feature in the upcoming game too. A journalist from the Spiel Times also claimed that a contact from Activision informed him of prototypes for new versions of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 were available.

It's been a while since we've had a game worthy of the Tony Hawk name. The last entry into the series, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 was not well received by critics or players and sits with a poor Metascore rating of just 32.

If you're looking to scratch that skateboarding game itch, it's worth keeping an eye on Session which is due to release this in Game Preview this Spring. Session is an upcoming skateboarding sim from Crea-ture Studios and focuses on realism with both analogue sticks controlling an avatars feet.
