That diddly download also includes a new chapter, which adds to the lore of the series. In an interview with US Gamer, senior developer James Haley said that "Persistent players will have the opportunity to unlock a new chapter in the Doomguy's saga, taking place shortly after [Doom 64's] original campaign concludes".

Doom 64 is being developed by Nightdive Studios, a company with a history of restoring "classic, abandoned and forgotten PC games". They describe their mission as bringing "lost and forgotten gaming treasures back from the depths". Just last week, Nightdive announced another classic they're planning on bringing back; they'll be restoring 1997's Blade Runner game to release on current consoles later this year.

Doom 64 is releasing alongside Doom Eternal. It's included with pre-orders of Doom Eternal, or as a standalone at launch. It'll be out this Friday, March 20th.
