Xbox Series X release date – Major Nelson says "Thanksgiving" date was an error

By Sean Carey,
The Xbox Series X is not releasing on November 26th or Thanksgiving, according to Major Nelson. The confusion came after Xbox updated its Xbox Series X product page in a number of different countries. Websites for India and Australia displayed that the next-gen console would be launching on "Thanksgiving 2020."

Unfortunately, that is not the case. The Thanksgiving date was displayed in error, and the Series X will be launching during the somewhat vague holiday 2020 period.

Major Nelson took to Twitter to clarify the issue and said, "An Xbox product page in some regions inaccurately listed the launch date for Xbox Series X as Thanksgiving 2020. We are committed to launching Holiday 2020." The Series X websites in India and Australia have now been updated and are showing, "Coming holiday, 2020."

Last night, Sony revealed the specs for the PS5. To see how it stacks up to the Xbox Series X, check out our comparison between the two. For more on the Series X, you can check out our full rundown on its specs and the bundled Xbox Series X controller.
