Game retailers are selling DOOM Eternal early to help with social distancing By Sean Carey, 19 Mar 2020 CommentsSeveral game retailers from across the world are selling copies of Doom Eternal ahead of its official release date to help minimise the transmission of COVID-19.US-based Gamestop announced on Twitter that it would be selling Doom Eternal a day earlier than its planned release date of March 20th. The reason behind this is so that the company sticks to social distancing guidelines set out by the CDC. Animal Crossing: New Horizons will only be sold on the 20th to avoid overcrowding. If you're in the US, you can pick up a copy of Doom Eternal now. According to Gamesindustry.biz, the Dutch games retailer, Game Mania has also implemented a similar policy. Those who have pre-ordered Doom Eternal or Animal Crossing: New Horizons can pick up their copies now. According to VGC, an unnamed employee working at GAME in the UK told the website that Bethesda had given GAME the go-ahead to sell Doom Eternal before its official release date. GAME in Telford tweeted out an amusing video that it was selling copies of the game on March 18th. Several other tweets show emails from GAME instructing buyers to come in and collect their copies as early as yesterday. It may be worth checking with your local stores to see if you can pick up a copy of the game a day early. Otherwise Doom Eternal launches tomorrow on March 20th.Industry News Written by Sean CareySean joined the team as a Staff Writer for both TrueAchievements and TrueTrophies in 2019.
