A new leak suggests Evil Dead's Ash will be next Mortal Kombat 11 character

By Heidi Nicholas,
The latest playable character for Mortal Kombat 11, Spawn, was just fully released yesterday, and a quick snapshot of an email from Warner Bros. seems to reveal Ash Williams as the next.

It goes without saying, that this is by no means a certainty. Neither Warner Bros. nor NetherRealm Studios has made any announcement about it. All the screenshot above shows — near the bottom of the picture — is an apparent note about licencing for the Ash character from Army of Darkness, the third movie in the Evil Dead franchise.

The game's first Kombat Pack featured the Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, Terminator T-800, Sindel, Joker and Spawn characters. Those with the Kombat Pack got Spawn, the last character, a week early on March 17th, while the full release took place yesterday. With players now looking ahead to the second Kombat Pack, it's possible that this leak, if true, could suggest that Ash Williams would be one of the first characters in it.

Although Ash has been rumoured for Mortal Kombat 11 before, there's been no official confirmation from the game's devs, so the picture above still needs to be taken with a sizeable pinch of salt. We'll update you if and when there's an official announcement.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
