CD Projekt Red donates over $950,000 to Polish charity to help fight the COVID-19 outbreak

CD Projekt Red has announced a donation of 4 million PLN — over $950,000 — to one of Poland's biggest charities: Fundacja Wielka Orkiestra Swiatecznej Pomocy (WOSP), or The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (GOCC), which has a history of promoting healthcare in Poland by raising money to purchase necessary hospital equipment.

As spotted on Reddit, CDPR made the announcement on LinkedIn. The company donated 4 million PLN, with half coming from CDPR's Board of Directors and some of their major shareholders, and the other half coming from CDPR itself.

There's already been significant efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 across Poland, with schools, shops, and cultural venues closing. The Polish government has, meanwhile, provided a map of the number of cases across Poland. WOSP/GOCC has, as the announcement indicates, a long history of fundraising for medical equipment. CDPR's donation is targeted specifically at supporting WOSP in fighting the spread of COVID-19 in Poland. "We’d like to thank all the brave souls who fight for our well-being every day and hope these funds help in your effort to rid us of the virus", CDPR's announcement finishes, directing readers to the WOSP site for more information.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
