Nier: Automata is coming to Xbox Game Pass — Nier Replicant remaster also in the works

By Sean Carey,
Square Enix dropped some big news over the weekend. Not only is NieR: Automata BECOME AS GODS Edition making its way into Xbox Game Pass this week, but there is also a remaster of the PS3 Japanese exclusive, Nier Replicant is in the works for Xbox One.

As revealed in a tweet from the official Nier twitter account, NieR: Automata BECOME AS GODS Edition is coming to Xbox Game Pass on April 2nd. The Action-RPG has seen rave reviews from critics and players alike. The TA community has also seen fit to praise Nier: Automata, and given the game a 4.61/5.

Players take on the role of a new type of android infantry, the YoRHa squad, to defeat alien-created machines who have invaded from a distant world. The game requires multiple playthroughs and will see you taking on the role of a few different androids. That, of course, means there are several achievements flagged as multiple playthroughs required. Estimated completion time for Nier: Automata is between 40-50 hours, so it's probably worth cracking on with when it hits the service.

The prequel to Nier: Automata is getting a remake. Nier Replicant was only released in Japan and exclusively on the PS3 back in 2010. It's a slightly different version to that of Nier — Replicant changes the protagonist's relationship with Yonah and is a brother instead of a father. The "upgraded" version, Nier Replicant Ver.1.22474487139, is coming to Xbox One, PS4 and Steam, and has players journeying across an apocalyptic world on a quest to cure the protagonist's sister of a deadly disease.

No release window has been given for Nier Replicant, but we do know that Nier: Automata is coming to Xbox Game Pass on April 2nd.
