E3 2011: Let's Cheer! Announced

By Rebecca Smith, 7 years ago
Believe it or not, over 3.6 million people in the U.S. alone participate in the sport of cheerleading through schools, competition squads, and cheer camps. It's of no surprise then that 2K Play has decided to make a game about the sport. 2K Play's vice president of business development Steve Lux explains more:

Let's Cheer! on Kinect for Xbox 360 brings the spectacular sport of cheerleading into the interactive world like never before. The unique combination of controller-free movement and voice recognition results in a game experience that not only rewards athleticism and spirit, but provides feedback that can help improve real-world cheer skills.
Let's Cheer! will see players learn authentic cheers and competitive routines which have been choreographed by professional cheerleaders. These routines will be set to "iconic, licensed cheerleading songs" and dance hits. The campaign mode means that players can progress from a local level, all the way through to the Nationals, with varsity football games and cheerleading competitions along the way.

When players master the moves accurately "and with full cheer spirit", new routines are unlocked and spirit stars are earned. The move roster includes "everything from basic motions like the High V, Broken T and Right Punch, to more advanced combination moves like the Blade Cap and Touchdown Sway. Cheer fans will be able to further test their flexibility with jumps like the Toe Touch and Herkie".

There will also be a multiplayer mode to add friendly competition.

Let's Cheer! is due to be released this Holiday season.
