Phil Spencer dashes hopes of Xbox exclusive Scalebound revival By Sean Carey, 02 Apr 2020 CommentsXbox boss, Phil Spencer has dampened any hopes of a Scalebound revival. In an interview with IGN, Spencer revealed that nobody at Xbox or Platinum Games is working on the former Xbox exclusive. The Microsoft owned IP was abandoned back in 2017 with Microsoft parting ways with the developer. The studio head of Platinum, Atsushi Inaba, recently said that he would love to jump back on the Scalebound project, but it was in Microsoft's hands. This led to many hoping that development on the game would be picked up. When Spencer was asked to address what happened with Platinum Games, he told IGN, "It's a tough one. I have a tonne of respect for Platinum, Kamiya-san and the team. I feel no ill will. We tried to do something, and it didn't work. I regret that we were as public about what we tried to go do. "I did some learning around Fable Legends and Scalebound about being public about things before I know that we've got a real, believable plan. We just didn't get there with Scalebound and the team. "We loved some of the ideas that we were trying to do, and we wanted to ship a great game to our customers. Of course, we are going to be a little upset that we weren't able to deliver on our goals for that title."Spencer continued, "We're not working it. I'm almost positive [Platinum] aren't working on it. For the people out there who think there is something still in the works, there's not." Phil Spencer has also talked about why Xbox dropped the audio optical port on the Series X, the manufacturing situation surrounding COVID-19 and that there are no plans to delay the console in any region. He's also feeling optimistic when comparing the Series X to the PS5, and believes that the company has a winning plan going forward.Industry News Written by Sean CareySean joined the team as a Staff Writer for both TrueAchievements and TrueTrophies in 2019.
