Next week in Apex Legends sees a new town takeover as part of The Old Ways Lore Event

By Heidi Nicholas,
Next week sees a lot of new content for Apex Legends. There'll be the new time-limited The Old Ways Lore Event, which includes a new Town Takeover for Bloodhound's Trials, as well as the permanent addition of a map rotation for Duos or Trios on King's Canyon and World's Edge. The Lore Event, Town Takeover, map rotations and everything else that comes with this all starts next week on April 7th. EA and Respawn announced The Old Ways with a new instalment to their Stories from the Outlands:

"In a village that has rejected the hubris of machines, a child is sent into the wilds in a lethal rite of passage. But they soon realize they are more hunted than hunter. Learn the truth of the Old Ways and see a scared youth become the fearsome Bloodhound." The devs go into more detail on what's to come on the game's site.

The Old Ways Lore Event, which runs from April 7th to April 21st, includes the Bloodhound's Trials Town Takeover, an event-exclusive Prize Track, new cosmetics, and the return of some Legendary Hunt Skins. The Town Takeover seems to be themed around Bloodhound's own experience in the Old Ways rite of passage: players will be going up against a mass of prowlers with the chance to earn high-tier rewards. "When the Apex Games came to World’s Edge, large predators vacated the area, leading to an explosion in the prowler population. Most were traced to a nest in the northwest portion of the arena, and here, Bloodhound saw an opportunity: maintain the ecosystem by pitting humans against beasts", the description reads, before adding "But beware the most dangerous game: fellow Legends who want to scavenge those goods for themselves." It seems it'll also be worthwhile to scout out and explore the area every time the combat eases. The Prize Track will have daily challenges and cosmetics themed around The Old Ways, as well as up to 11 exclusive rewards. Players can get up to 1000 points for each challenge set, and can complete battle pass challenges simultaneously.

The eight Legendary Hunt Skins will be back and available to purchase, along with two variants of the Wraith and R-301 skins which had previously been available only to battle pass owners. The Voices From the Past Wraith skin, the R-301 Trophy Collector, and Hot Pursuit skin for Octane will be available from April 7th to April 10th. The Outland Warrior skin for Bangalore, the Spitfire skin for the Bone Saw, and the Tiger Blood skin for Caustic will be available from April 11th to April 14th. The Pain Killer skin for Lifeline, Snake Charmer skin for Mirage, and Goldmine Gremlin skin for Flatline will be available from April 15th to April 18th. The Sunfire Initiate skin for Pathfinder will be available from April 19th to April 21st, as will the Voices From the Past Wraith skin and the R-301 Trophy Collector skin. There'll also be new skins themed around The Old Ways in the Shop, as well as a range of legendary and rare skins.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
