Free Sea of Thieves update adds a job role for Trading Companies and pet cats By Sean Carey, 08 Apr 2020 CommentsA big free update is on its way to Sea of Thieves. The Ships of Fortune update allows players to represent their favourite Trading Company to earn greater rewards, but run the risk of being targeted more often. A new company is also setting sail in the Sea of Thieves universe, and (most importantly of all) cats are being added to the Pirate Emporium as pets. Players will soon be able to fly the flag of their favourite Trading Company and serve as an emissary. To gain access to the role players need to make a significant donation to a representative at an outpost. Then they'll be able to raise the Emissary Flag and advance through five tiers. The higher you rise through the ranks, the bigger the reward. However, other pirates will be on the lookout for emissary ships knowing they are filled with loot. Players can also compete in the competitive Emissary Ledger and earn Titles for climbing up through the ranks. This progress can then be compared against friends. A new Trading Company called The Reaper's Bones has also dropped anchor in Sea of Thieves. The mysterious group can be found at The Reaper's Hideout, and unless you choose to serve as their emissary, they won't think twice about plundering your ship. Changes are also being made to gameplay. Players will soon have a short amount of time to review their downed crewmates before their souls head off to the Ferry of the Damned. Revives can be made in both Adventure and Arena. Finally, a new animal is coming to the Pirate Emporium. If you weren't happy with either a monkey or a parrot, you can now get yourself a cat! The Pirate Emporium stocks three breeds of feline including the Wildcat, Ragamuffin and Mau. Each breed's colour can be customised. And for those of you interested, you can dress up your cats in a variety of different outfits. Unfortunately, the Xbox Wire post doesn't detail if new achievements will be making their way to Sea of Thieves. Achievements have been added with other content updates like this one, but nothing yet has been confirmed. If we pick up a list, we'll let you know. The Ships of Fortune update comes to Sea of Thieves on April 22nd. In other Sea of Thieves news, the open-world adventure game is getting a Steam release. You can expect to see more pirates out on the seas soon.Game UpdateWindowsXbox One Written by Sean CareySean joined the team as a Staff Writer for both TrueAchievements and TrueTrophies in 2019.
