Sci-fi adventure Deliver Us The Moon joins Xbox Game Pass and Game Pass for PC today

By Heidi Nicholas,
The Xbox team has been busy lately: just yesterday, they surprise-dropped the announcement that Red Dead Redemption 2 will join Xbox Game Pass in May. Before that, they announced new titles for Xbox Game Pass, along with several new titles for Xbox Game Pass for PC. Today's new addition is Deliver Us The Moon: a sci-fi action adventure title which draws inspiration from movies such as Interstellar, and which joins the Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass for PC services today as a day one addition.

It's an apocalyptic sci-fi title, where Earth's struggling for resources and relies heavily for energy from a lunar colony — which has suddenly stopped communicating. It's the player's mission to investigate this sudden and ominous silence, with the outcome deciding the fate of mankind. There's options for 1st and 3rd person gameplay, with the description promising "claustrophobic, suspense driven action", plus anti-gravity gameplay, puzzles, and the option to drive vehicles across the moonscape.

Speaking on the PlayStation Blog, Koen Deetman, Game Director at developers KeokeN Interactive, said the game draws inspiration from films such as Interstellar and Gravity, and that they wanted to capture the same feeling from these movies, which made you "believe it could be real". In their search for a realistic depiction of an astronaut, Deetman says they utilised publicly available information from NASA, such as the events leading up to a rocket heading into space. They also looked at Japanese research on Microwave Power Transmission, and at Helium-3 as a possible future source of alternative power. Their main focus seems to be realistic efficiency, with Deetman saying "efficiency is a crucial factor in space travel".

Deliver Us The Moon is available on Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass for PC today. After that, there's HyperDot and Levelhead arriving into both services on April 30th, with Red Dead Redemption 2 following up for Xbox Game Pass in the first week of May.
