Moving Out joins Xbox Game Pass and Game Pass PC as a surprise day one addition

By Heidi Nicholas,
The Xbox team recently announced a wave of new titles to arrive throughout April for Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass for PC, including five for Xbox Game Pass and seven for Xbox Game Pass for PC. These arrivals continue with Machinarium and Gears Tactics, both of which join the Xbox Game Pass for PC service today. It seems, however, that the Xbox team had another addition planned, and "physics-based moving simulator" Moving Out joins both services today as a day one addition.

Moving Out features both solo and co-op capability for up to three other gamers. Players take on the roles of employees of the Smooth Moves team of Furniture Arrangement and Relocation Technicians (F.A.R.Ts), and are tasked with moving furniture from houses to the truck as quickly as possible, with absolutely no concern for the state of the house or for whether the furniture gets there in one piece. Speed is of the essence; if you'd save a few seconds by breaking through the window, the F.A.R.T team won't judge. Moving Out seems to be in a similar style to the Overcooked! games, where teamwork is helpful: take the haunted house level; one player might choose to move furniture while another stays in the truck to stop the apparently sentient chairs and tables from escaping it. Like Overcooked! there's also an array of bizarre obstacles, such as ghosts and floating furniture. Also like Overcooked! tensions run high, and efficiency takes a definite backseat as soon as you figure out that the characters can slap each other. This is presumably meant to be used against ghost-type obstacles, but still.

Machinarium, meanwhile, is a point and click adventure title about a small robot called Josef. The game's set in a world of mechanical beings, and Josef has been booted out of town by the Black Cap Brotherhood. Josef's goal is to make his way back and save his friend Berta, solving puzzles and challenges along the way.

Lastly, Gears Tactics is a single-player turn-based strategy title, which, like Moving Out, joins the service as a day one addition. Gears Tactics is set 12 years before the events of the first Gears of War game, and features a campaign of over 40 hours, where you'll be playing as Gabe Diaz, tasked with taking down the leader of the Locust army. Sean recently had the chance to review the game and loved it: you can check his Gears Tactics review for more.

Gears Tactics (Win 10)

Machinarium and Gears Tactics are available on Xbox Game Pass for PC, while Moving Out is available on both Xbox Game Pass services. There's only a few days left of April, but there's still a few additions to look forward to, with HyperDot and Levelhead joining both Xbox Game Pass services on April 30th.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
