E3 2011: Gamma World Announced for XBLA

Bedlam Games, developer for Dungeons & Dragons: Daggerdale, has announced that they will be releasing another RPG, Gamma World, onto Xbox LIVE Arcade.

In the fall of 2012, scientists at the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva, Switzerland, embarked on a new series of high-energy experiments. No one knows exactly what they were attempting to do, but a little after 3pm on a Thursday afternoon came The Big Mistake. Something unexpected happened, and in the blink of an eye, a multiplicity of possible universes condensed into a single reality. Welcome to Gamma Terra.
The game sees players sent to Gamma Terra, where the survivors of "The Big Mistake" must travel across radioactive wastes to search crumbled ruins for lost artefacts, and new parts for you to create new weapons, armour and tools. Players will visit a variety of regions, "from ruined cities to barren wastelands and beyond". Rampant lawlessness sees constant attacks from monstrous mutants, so "quick reflexes and split second decisions are just as important as effective character design".

Players can create their hero from a variety of primary radiation-triggered alpha mutations. These change the player's abilities in unlimited and unpredictable ways. The secondary powerful Omega Technology from other dimensions will also allow players to "bend the laws of reality itself in their quest for survival".

Players can join up with friends or family members both locally and online. The game supports two players locally, and up to four players online.

Gamma World is due to be released in Autumn / Fall 2011.
