Mafia Trilogy announced — Mafia 2 and Mafia 3 Definitive Editions out now

By Sean Carey,
2K Games has officially announced the Mafia: Trilogy — a complete collection of the three previous Mafia games including a "built-from-the-ground-up remake" of the first Mafia title. Mafia II: Definitive Edition and Mafia III: Definitive Edition are available to download today.

Mafia II: Definitive Edition is out now and is an ultra HD remaster that includes all of the game's previous DLCs. We've also picked up a new Mafia II: Definitive Edition achievement list, although it looks to be a carbon copy of the original Mafia II achievement list, and it doesn't look like the DLC achievements are included. It's possible that these could scan in later, or they just won't be made available by 2K Games.

Mafia III: Definitive Edition is also out today, but is actually a "re-introduction" of the game. All players that previously owned Mafia III will be upgraded automatically to the Mafia III: Definitive Edition for no extra charge. However, this sadly means that there will be no new achievements. You can head here to check out the Mafia III achievement list. The big news here is that 2K has made all of the game's previous DLCs available for free, so if you didn't 100% the game now you can for no extra cost. Head over to this link on the Microsoft Store to download all the DLCs included in the Mafia III Expansion Pass.

After years of combat in Vietnam, Lincoln Clay knows this truth: family isn’t who you’re born with, it’s who you die for. When his surrogate family, the black mob, is betrayed and wiped out by the Italian Mafia, Lincoln builds a new family on the ashes of the old and blazes a path of military-grade revenge through the Mafioso responsible.

Finally, Mafia: Definitive Edition will launch on August 28th. The game has been completely remade and includes an updated script along with a bunch of new dialogue, expanded backstories, new cutscenes and some new gameplay sequences.

All three games can be purchased separately, or they can be bought in the Mafia: Trilogy bundle. According to 2K, "those who own a combination of titles will receive special reduced-price upgrade offers to complete their trilogy via in-game menus within each of the Mafia games". Although unclear in the press release, this could relate to just the Steam versions of the games.
