Dying Light 2 developers say "it's the last stretch" for the game By Heidi Nicholas, 02 Jun 2020 CommentsTechland has addressed concerns about both Dying Light 2 and the studio itself in a recent interview, saying, "please trust us — it's the last stretch for this project, and we need your support."Dying Light 2 was delayed indefinitely in early January. In May, Polish site PolskiGamedev.pl claimed developers Techland was struggling with problems in the studio and with their game. Speaking to The Escapist, (thanks, PCGamesN) Techland addressed some of these concerns. When asked about a release date, lead game designer Tymon Smektala says they can't provide a specific answer — "there's a whole team at Techland that works on the announcement of the release date for the game... I don't want to spoil it for them or our community" — but asks, "please trust us — it's the last stretch for this project". Senior PR Manager Ola Sondej, meanwhile, clarifies that development on the game "is moving forward according to our internal schedule", and adds that there's work on a "new, yet unannounced, production" in the Warsaw studio, but that they "constitute one company and support each other". Both Sondej and Smektala go on to address various concerns, such as the employee turnover — "the turnover in our company is on par with the rest of the industry" — and add that the article in question "contains various opinions... Each opinion matters to us, so we are now carefully analyzing all the topics raised".Sondej also addressed rumours of a possible acquisition by Microsoft, saying Techland works with Microsoft "on a regular basis" but that "perhaps someone misinterpreted our relationship... to clarify, we are not in such talks with Microsoft". Sondej further adds that while they see "some interest from potential investors", Techland always "makes it clear we are independent and will remain independent for the foreseeable future". Although Smektala couldn't answer the question regarding a release date, the fact that "it's the last stretch for this project" is certainly promising. We'll update you when we hear anything more on a possible release date for Dying Light 2.Xbox One Written by Heidi NicholasHey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
