Microsoft has confirmed to Famitsu that the Xbox Series X will launch in Japan this holiday season. Xbox's previous console, Xbox One, arrived in Japan and China nearly a year after the console was released in Western markets.

Xbox Series X Japan launch

VGC says that four Xbox Series X games have been announced for release in Japan. Halo Infinite, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Scarlet Nexus and Bright Memory: Infinite will all be getting Japanese releases on Microsoft's next-gen console.

This news means we could see a simultaneous launch for the Xbox Series X in both Western and Eastern regions. Xbox boss Phil Spencer has been keen to improve Xbox's standing in Japan. Spencer previously said the market in Japan is important to Xbox and the position the company holds in the country "isn't acceptable". Spencer also said that Xbox is going to "be bold" with its decisions for the Series X, and it will do "a much better job with this next upcoming launch" in Japan.

In April, Microsoft brought both Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass for PC to Japan.
