Microsoft has not delayed an Xbox Series X event to August

By Sean Carey,
Recent reports have suggested that an Xbox Series X showcase scheduled for June had been postponed to August. Microsoft has confirmed that this is not accurate and the next 20/20 digital event is still on track for July.

Xbox's general manager of marketing Aaron Greenberg took to Twitter to clarify saying that Microsoft had not "pushed anything back", and the next digital showcase will be taking place in July. A previous report from Venturebeat's Jeff Grub suggested that a June event had been postponed until August so Microsoft could reveal more of its plans after the Sony PS5 games showcase taking place this week.

After May's Inside Xbox 20/20 stream, Greenberg tweeted, "June will be done a bit differently than an Inside Xbox show." At the moment, we don't know what exactly is planned for June. When Xbox first announced the Xbox 20/20 streams it said that Xbox Series X details would arrive every month before the console's launch — a June digital event was not mentioned at the time. However, Bloomberg reports that Microsoft will hold a June event that will "highlight the Xbox platform and services". We could see some Xbox Series X news come in a different form, such as an Xbox Wire blog post or a video.

Microsoft has already announced that July's Inside Xbox stream will be dedicated to first-party games from Xbox Game Studios. Not much is known about the event, but Halo: Infinite and Psychonauts 2 have been confirmed for the stream.
