Xbox team promises there's "good things coming" in July's Xbox 20/20 digital show By Heidi Nicholas, 24 Jun 2020 FollowtopicsXbox Series X|SHeidi Nicholas The next Xbox 20/20 digital event takes place in July, promising to showcase first-party games, new announcements, and gameplay. We haven't had any news on Xbox's 20/20 plans in a while but head of Xbox Game Marketing Aaron Greenberg and Todd Kaumans, a video producer for Inside Xbox, have both come forward to reassure everyone that the July event is well underway.Greenberg replied to a fan on Twitter to say: "Team working hard on it, good content review today in fact with the big boss. We will share more details when all is locked. Kindly ask for patience in the meantime." Kaumans retweeted Greenberg's words, adding, "We’re neck deep in getting this show ready. I absolutely cannot wait for everyone to see it. Good things coming!"It sounds as though July's event is well underway, even if there is still a lot to do. We know it'll focus on first-party games: Halo: Infinite and Psychonauts 2 have already been confirmed, but perhaps we'll also see more of Senua's Saga: Hellblade II and Rare's new IP, Everwild. Hellblade II was announced alongside the Xbox Series X itself, but since then all we've heard is that its development team will be twice as big as that of the first game. There's been even less info on Everwild so far: the game had an intriguing announcement trailer, which, while gorgeous, didn't give a lot to go on. There's many other games which could be shown in July, alongside new announcements, but it looks as though we still have a little wait before then. The Xbox 20/20 schedule promised to show "what happens next in the world of Xbox, every month", with these "monthly moments" planned to "take place throughout the rest of the year". However, Greenberg afterwards tweeted to say that "June news will be done differently than Inside Xbox show", later adding there was "stuff to show and surprise you with" before July's event, and clarifying that "there will be news we are planning to revel/release, but not an Inside Xbox show next month." It seems that July will be a much bigger event than what had been planned for June, with much more to show. The last major Xbox 20/20 event was in May with a third-party gameplay showcase, and although it did show a lot of intriguing footage, some fans seemed to feel a little underwhelmed. Greenberg tweeted to clarify that perhaps the Xbox team "set some wrong expectations" for the event. This, coupled with Sony's recent PS5 games showcase, may well have readjusted the Xbox team's plans for July's event. We'll just have to wait and see what's in store for July.Xbox Series X|S Written by Heidi NicholasHeidi tends to lean towards indie games, RPGs, and open-world games on Xbox, and when not playing Disney Dreamlight Valley, happily installs every new wholesome game that appears on Xbox Game Pass, before diving back into favorites like The Witcher 3.
