Perfect Dark and Fable placeholder Twitter accounts downplayed by Xbox's Greenberg

By Sean Carey,
For a while now there have been rumours about the Fable and Perfect Dark series making a return on the Xbox Series X. These rumours were reignited when two placeholder Twitter accounts sporting the same names of the beloved franchises were spotted. Now, Xbox marketing head Aaron Greenberg has stepped in to dispel the rumours.

As pointed out by The Verge's Tom Warren, one of the accounts is registered to a Microsoft email address, and the other has a Microsoft employee following it. However, according to Xbox's Aaron Greenberg, the two accounts "have not been active for years" and apparently "its's standard practice to secure social handles for our IP."

Since Greenberg's tweet, the Perfect Dark account has since gone live with the words "not affiliated with Microsoft" in its description. The person who created the account said they made it after seeing the other Fable account and realising that Perfect Dark didn't have one. Despite this, creative director for Xbox Game Studios Ken Lobb still follows the account.

Rumours of a new Fable and Perfect Dark game have been swirling around the internet for a while now. Hopefully, we could hear more on both series during July's Xbox 20/20 first-party gameplay showcase. So far, only Halo: Infinite and Psychonauts 2 have been confirmed for the event.
