Update: Crash Bandicoot 4 developer says there will be no microtransactions in the game

By Sean Carey,
Update: Developer Toys for Bob has clarified that Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time will not feature microtransactions.

Original Story: Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time will feature over 100 levels, and the title will have in-game purchases.

According to an email from Gamestop, Crash's next outing will feature over 100 levels. The email sent out to customers explains that Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time is a "full sequel with 100+ levels of play, new game modes and new abilities for innovative gameplay". To put things in perspective, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy features over 100 levels, but that includes three separate titles. Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped has 37 levels in total.

The game will also have some form of in-game purchases according to the Microsoft Store listing of the game. The "offers in-app purchases" tag is present under the game's price tag indicating that the game will have microtransactions of some kind. It's currently unclear how these will work. Pre-ordering the game grants the player access to a couple of unique skins, so it could be that microtransactions in Crash Bandicoot 4 are going to be cosmetic related. Microtransactions were added to Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled after its launch, but these were for cosmetic items only and did not affect gameplay.

It's also been rumoured that Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time will feature local multiplayer according to details revealed on the PlayStation Store.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time launches on Xbox One on October 2nd, 2020.
