EGX 2020 has been cancelled with a digital event taking its place

The UK's biggest gaming event has been cancelled. EGX 2020 will not take place in September as initially planned due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, EGX will be partnering with PAX Online for an all-digital event called, EGX Digital.

EGX Digital will now take place from September 12th and run for nine days until the 20th. According to a press release, EGX Digital "will be the online show that celebrates the very best in gaming from the comfort of your own home". There will be sessions and panels with developers, playable games, Let's Play content, competitive gaming, hundreds of indie games and more. EGX will be sharing more on what's to come in the future.

"We love EGX, and we're saddened to have had to cancel our flagship event. Given the current climate, we just wouldn't have been able to provide our fans with the sort of show they've come to expect from us," said David Lilley EGX Event Director.

Earlier this year, EGX Rezzed was postponed and subsequently cancelled for EGX Rezzed Digital. Those who had purchased tickets to EGX Rezzed automatically had their tickets transferred over to EGX 2020. Those tickets will automatically be refunded over the next few weeks.
