UnderMine will join Xbox Game Pass as a day-one addition this summer

Roguelike action-adventure UnderMine will join Xbox Game Pass as a day-one addition at launch on August 6th.

The game's description says it's got some "RPGish elements" mixed in with its action-adventure and roguelike themes. "Delve into the UnderMine as a lowly peasant seeking fortune and freedom. Each journey promises challenge, discovery, riches, and untimely death. That's okay though, because your belongings will be passed on to the next peasant, who will hopefully do a little better." You'll be mining gold, rescuing NPCs — who'll then become vendors and sell you upgrades — blowing things up, finding secret passages, claiming loot, challenging bosses, and exploring deeper into the UnderMine. Developers Thorium says of the game's dungeon crawling elements that if you find that "perfect run where you find all the right items, all the right secrets, and get all the right rolls", you'll become a "peasant god of destruction."

The game has been in development for five years, and in early access for one. Thorium says the final version includes the final boss, extra story, new levels, a cinematic ending, and more "on top of the five major Early Access content updates", including the "'Othermine' true roguelike mode."

UnderMine joins Xbox Game Pass at launch on August 6th.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
