Mixer is being removed from select Xbox Insiders' consoles

By Sean Carey,
Xbox Insiders are starting to see Mixer disappear from their Xbox One consoles. Microsoft announced the closure of its streaming platform last month, and now Xbox Insiders in the Beta, Delta and Omega rings are now starting to see some features of the app disappear.

The latest Xbox Insider notes for these rings have been detailed over on Xbox Wire. The patch notes read, "Users may see some Mixer features missing from the console, starting with this build." The features that are disappearing include:
  • Mixer content tile on the Home dashboard, searches and Pins referencing Mixer
  • Mixer application in My games & apps
  • References to Mixer streaming, or content tiles, in Guide
  • Mixer streams, as well as "Start broadcast" found in Guide
  • Mixer broadcast mic options in Settings
  • Party co-stream capabilities
According to the patch notes, those who wish to continue to use Mixer in these rings can do so until July 22nd providing they opt out of the Xbox Insider program. After that date, the Mixer app site and apps will redirect to Facebook's streaming service.

Microsoft announced last month that Mixer would be shut down and that the company had partnered with Facebook Gaming. Over on Reddit, a user asked if an Xbox console in the future would have Facebook Gaming integrated into the Dashboard like how Mixer is now. Xbox's Major Nelson replied, "If you are asking if the current Mixer integration in the Dashboard is just going to become Facebook gaming. The answer is no."

Mixer shuts down on July 22nd.
