Hyper Scape announced as a free-to-play "urban battle royale"

By Heidi Nicholas,
Update: Hyper Scape has now been officially announced. It's an "urban-futuristic free-to-play battle royale where 100 Contenders engage in FPS close-quarters and fast-paced matches to become the next global superstar." Hyper Scape is set in the seven districts of the virtual city of Neo Arcadia. These districts will gradually be destroyed by the Blight, but surviving until the end will allow you to enter the Showdown. The city is "designed to encourage vertical mobility and fast-paced combat situations." The devs say that the game will be supported with frequent communication updates, with "everything from balance updates, gun additions, hack additions, new game modes, new battle passes, [and] new seasons."

Original story: Hyper Scape has been confirmed as Ubisoft's upcoming "urban battle royale". The game is now debuting on Twitch, with viewers able to earn access to the game's Technical Test. There will be a full announcement later today with new footage and game details: we'll update here as the announcement progresses.

Viewers can gain access to Hyper Scape's Techincal Test via Twitch Drops on Twitch. Ubisoft is set to reveal the game with a full announcement later today, July 2nd, at 7pm BST / 2pm ET / 11am PT, which you can watch here.

Hyper Scape first cropped up a few days ago. Following rumours of a new FPS battle royale game from Ubisoft, the game got a new website — prismadimensions.com — which gave a few details to go on. The website had a note written from the point of view of the CEO of "Prisma Dimensions", which in Hyper Scape is "the world’s leading multinational technology, media, and service company." The site hints at what we'll see in Ubisoft's announcement later today: the "first iteration of the Hyper Scape" on July 2nd, along with the "pulse-pounding action of Crown Rush". It ends with a brief hint of what the game will look like: "Get ready to drop into the neon-drenched streets of the world’s premiere virtual city, Neo Arcadia. You'll want to hit the ground running, as you’ll need every advantage you can find to give yourself a leg up on the competition. Only the best contenders will make it to the final showdown. Will you claim victory, or fall to the perils of the Hyper Scape?"

We'll update here when Ubisoft announces the game in full.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
