Skater XL has an insane achievement that will take you roughly 2,700 hours to unlock

By Sean Carey,
Skater XL launched a couple of days ago, and many of you have jumped into the game to get in on the skateboarding action and pop some achievements. However, one of the game's achievements is going to take you thousands of hours to unlock.

The Around the World achievement requires players to travel over "40.075 km" in the game world. This 40,075 km figure is referring to the circumference of Earth. Many believed that there was a typo in the number; that players would only have to travel 40 km, and that the achievement tracker was broken. This doesn't seem to be the case, but we have reached out to Easy Day Studios for clarification.

There's a lot of discussion going on in the Skater XL forums here on TA and on the internet. Known guides maker Maka91 estimated over on Twitter that a skater moves at an average speed of around 15 km/h. If this is indeed the case, it will take players roughly around 2,700 hours, or 113 days of play to unlock the Around the World achievement. You'll also need Around the World to unlock the game's final achievement: Achievement Hunter.

Wolfsbane Skadi, a user in our forums, has been testing out a method that involves leaving on the Xbox, rubber banding the "X" button on a controller and travelling down a ramp found in the Downtown LA area of the map. According to Skadi, this method will shave off some time, but you're still looking at around 1,168 hours or 46 days to unlock the achievement. Others have confirmed that this method does work and the achievement tracker is moving up by 1% every 12 to 15 hours.

It's still early days, so players might find a solution that takes a lot less time than what's required currently. If not, be prepared for a monumental grind. Pun definitely intended.

We have reached out to Easy Day Studios for further information on the Around the World achievement. We'll update you if we hear back.
