Halo Infinite dev denies dropping Xbox One version rumour

By Sean Carey,
Developer 343 Industries has denied a report that it was potentially dropping the Xbox One version of Halo Infinite and further delaying the game.

A post from a ResetEra user alleged that Microsoft and 343 Industries were considering dropping the Xbox One version of the Master Chief's next outing due to the game suffering from performance issues on the Xbox One S. The forum user also suggested that 343 were toying with the idea of even delaying the game into early 2022.

Now, Halo's community manager at 343 Industries John Junyszek has denied the rumour calling it a "fake leak." Junyszek said over on Twitter, "We're seeing lots of fake "leaks" out there, so please don't believe everything you read. There are no plans to change our 2021 release or the devices and platforms we'll be supporting. We're building Halo Infinite to be the best it can be on each device/platform."

Halo Infinite came under heavy criticism when gameplay footage was revealed for the first time during the recent Xbox Games Showcase. 343 Industries had to address the negative fan response over the game's seemingly poor visuals.

Microsoft and 343 recently decided delay Halo Infinite into 2021, meaning it would no longer be an Xbox Series X launch title.
