Gamescom Opening Night Live Xbox news round-up

Gamescom Opening Night Live was filled with a bunch of gaming news and exciting new announcements. Although the majority of news focused on games that were already announced, there were a few surprises in store. If you didn't manage to catch the show, don't worry. We've rounded up all of the Xbox-relevant news from the stream, so you don't miss a thing.

Scarlett Nexus


Bandai Namco dropped a new trailer for Scarlet Nexus showcasing a bunch more frenetic gameplay and otherworldly powers. Scarlett Nexus is coming to Xbox One and Xbox Series X, but a launch date is yet to be announced.

Dirt 5


A new trailer detailing Dirt 5's Playgrounds Mode shows how you can make your own rally stunt park complete with jumps, fire rings and plenty of other obstacles. We also got hands-on with Playgrounds Mode and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War


We were then treated to a new cinematic trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Woods, Hudson and Mason are back for another outing. The game will also feature multiple endings which are influenced by the player's choices throughout the story.

Unknown 9: Awakening


Unknown 9: Awakening is a new game coming to Xbox Series X. It's about a woman in India who is haunted by visions of her own death and can "manipulate the unseen." The teaser trailer doesn't give too much away, but it will be coming to Xbox Series X sometime in the future.

Doom Eternal


Bethesda showed off some gameplay for Doom Eternal's first single-player expansion, The Ancient Gods, Part One. The DLC will launch on October 20th, 2020.

Dragon Age


BioWare gave everyone a behind-the-scenes look at how the next Dragon Age is shaping up.

Bridge Constructor: The Walking Dead


In a rather bemusing announcement, Bridge Constructor is getting a Walking Dead crossover with Bridge Constructor: The Walking Dead. The physics-based puzzle game is coming to both Xbox One and Xbox Series X later this year.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground


Developer Gasket Games announced a new Warhammer title called, Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground. The turn-based strategy game is coming to Xbox One in 2021.

Little Nightmares 2


Gameplay for Little Nightmares 2 was shown for the first time since its announcement. The creepy platformer is coming to Xbox One on February 11th, 2021. Those who purchase an Xbox One version of the game will get a free Xbox Series X upgrade when it launches.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds


Jerry "The King" Lawler treated everyone to some more over-the-top WWE 2K Battlegrounds gameplay. The brawler launches on Xbox One on September 18th.

Star Wars: Squadrons


Single-player campaign gameplay for Star Wars: Squadrons was revealed. The trailer showcases some sweet space dogfighting action and gives us a look at an early Imperial mission.

The Sims 4


Star Wars is heading to The Sims 4 with a new expansion pack. The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu DLC allows players to create their own Star Wars story. The expansion launches on September 8th.

12 Minutes


12 Minutes is an interactive thriller about a man who has to relive the same 12 minutes over and over again unless he can figure out how to break the loop. A star-studded cast for the game was revealed in a new trailer last night. Willem Dafoe, James McAvoy and Daisy Ridley will all feature.

Override 2: Super Mech League


Override 2: Super Mech League got a new CG trailer and is coming to Xbox One and Xbox Series X this December.

Mafia: Definitive Edition


Mafia: Definitive Edition welcomes you to the family in this new trailer. The remake is coming to Xbox One on September 25th.

Lemnis Gate


Lemnis Gate is a new FPS turn-based strategy game set in a 25-second time loop and is coming to Xbox One in early 2021.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga


Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is unfortunately delayed into 2021, but WB Games did showcase a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming title.

Age of Empire III Definitive Edition


Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition launches on October 15th. A new trailer highlights some of the new features and game modes coming to the remaster. It will also be available to play in Xbox Game Pass for PC at launch.

Necromunda: Underhive Wars


Necromunda: Underhive Wars is a tactical RPG based on the Games Workshop tabletop game. It's coming to Xbox One on September 9th, and the latest trailer details the different factions in the game.

Chorus


Chorus was officially announced during the May's Xbox Games Showcase. The game received a new gameplay trailer showcasing some space-flight combat. Chorus is coming to Xbox One and Xbox Series X in 2021.

Spellbreak


Spellbreak is a free-to-play fantasy game coming to Xbox One next week on September 3rd. The new trailer features a brief glimpse of gameplay but gives us an idea of what to expect.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light


A new trailer for Destiny 2 details the new Statis powers coming to the game with the Beyond Light expansion.
