Halo Infinite gets Monster Energy partnership

By Luke Albigés,
Halo Infinite has been in the news a fair bit lately, but Microsoft isn't about to let the game's delay stand in the way of giving good ol' Master Chief some cross-promotional love. As reported over on Xbox Wire, Microsoft has partnered with Monster Energy to stick a familiar green chap next to a familiar green logo on drink cans. Oh, and you get some free stuff, too.

The Xbox Wire post details exactly what form the campaign will take in different regions, focusing primarily on the US market. Promotional cans each come with a 30-minute XP boost, and by logging receipts on Monster's site from tomorrow until the end of the year, these can be stockpiled up to a maximum of 60 hours' worth of boosts. That's 120 cans, maths fans. Each entry logged also counts as an entry into a sweepstake with some pretty nice prizes — 10 lucky winners will come away with an all-expenses-paid trip for two to Paris for a Zero-G Flight experience, and there are also 200 Xbox Series X consoles up for grabs. Not bad.

These limited cans will also feature a code for a pretty terrible Snapchat filter, and there will be new ones each month of the campaign. There are some kind of challenges tied to these by the sounds of it, with folks who complete three earning themselves a bunch of in-game cosmetics — four green-and-black weapon skins, a pair of player emblems, and a pair of weapon emblems, none of which are especially tacky, which is a nice surprise. These will apparently also be available in select US stores ("Walmart, Meijer and some grocery stores," per the Wire article) for anyone who doesn't want to mess around with Snapchat.

The campaign looks pretty similar for the other target countries, but with a few differences. Canada looks to be exactly the same just with a few more stores to pick up goodies from (7-Eleven, London Drugs, Walmart, and Couche Tarde, again according to Xbox Wire), while 30 countries in Europe will get the promotion a month later, starting on Otober 1st.

Any of these in-game items you earn are 'banked' and turned into codes for Halo Waypoint, which will save up all the goodies you unlock and keep them ready for the game's launch next year.

Halo Infinite comes to Xbox Series X and Xbox One in 2021 following the recent decision to delay the game. Monster energy drinks, however, have not been delayed and are available now.
