Apex Legends cross-play beta kicks off next week

By Sean Carey,
Cross-play is finally coming to Apex Legends. As of October 6th, you'll be able to jump into the battle royale game with your pals on PS4 and PC via Origin.

The Aftermarket Collection event also starts on October 6th. The new "Flashpoint" limited-time mode removes health and shield pickups from the game. Instead, players will have to regain their health in special Flashpoint zones, which will undoubtedly get very busy very quickly. As per usual, there are some new skins to grab and 24 limited-time cosmetics to unlock.

Respawn says that cross-play in Apex Legends will be trialled in beta, to begin with. Previously, Respawn developer Jake Smullin reassured fans that console players won't be matched up against PC opponents unless those on console have a teammate who is playing on PC. "You will only be in PC cross-play lobbies if you have a PC player on your team. Have been seeing lots of console players worrying about this but don't. Everyone should be excited," Smullin said.
