NBA 2K21 next-gen gameplay has now been officially revealed

By Heidi Nicholas,
New gameplay of a work-in-progress next-gen build of NBA 2K21 has now been released, with a lot of shiny new footage of a game between the Golden State Warriors and the Dallas Mavericks to show off how the game will look when it launches for Xbox Series X and PS5 in November.

The footage was captured on PS5 but shared by the Xbox YouTube channel and the NBA 2K21 twitter account as an example of how the game will look on next-gen consoles. NBA 2K21 has been "built from the ground up to reach new heights in graphical realism and presentation," according to the press release, and is "positioned to be an awesome leap forward and the largest game in franchise history," making use of "the incredible power, speed, and technology of the next-generation of consoles."

"Never before have we been able to deliver this level of visual fidelity and realism in a video game... NBA 2K21 is the standout title that best delivers the promise of next-gen: truly revolutionary graphics, lighting-fast load times and incredible new features and gameplay only possible on next-generation hardware," Greg Thomas, president of Visual Concepts.

The upgraded next-gen version includes graphical advancements such as "next-gen lighting, textures, physics, and animation," as well as new on-court animation and rebuilt player movement, as well as over 150 AI-driven characters. We'll hear more about next-gen features from tomorrow, and we'll be sure to keep you updated. The current version of NBA 2K21 is out now, while the next-gen version launches alongside the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on November 10th. The free next-gen upgrade for current players is only included with the deluxe Mamba Forever edition.
