No Man's Sky coming to Xbox Series X|S with free "Next Generation" update

Developer Hello Games has announced that No Man's Sky: Next Generation, a free Xbox Series X|S update, will be launching alongside the two consoles on November 10th.

No Man's Sky Xbox Series X|S

Thanks to the power of the new hardware, players will be able to experience No Man's Sky at 60fps on both Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. Those on the Xbox Series X can also play at 4K 60 fps. Load times have also been reduced on both consoles with the developer citing a five to ten times reduction in loading times.

Hello Games says that players can expect fuller worlds with "lusher, richer, and more densely populated universes than ever before." Planets will be more detailed and filled with even more weird and wonderful flora and fauna. Shadows, lighting, and the game's draw distance have also been improved, which should make exploring the procedurally generated universe of No Man's Sky much more visually appealing.

That's not all. You'll be able to team up with your friends with the Next Generation update too — another 31 of your friends infact. Once the update rolls out, up to 32 players can band together to explore the galaxy. They can also build much bigger bases. "Players can now work together to build huge colonies, with the ability to construct and render far more vast and complex bases on screen." Thanks to crossplay, you'll also be able to play with your friends on other platforms and previous generations too.

The free No Man's Sky: Next Generation update comes to Xbox Series X|S on November 10th. If you're upgrading from Xbox One or Windows, your progress can be carried over to a new console.

No Man's Sky is currently available with Xbox Game Pass.
