The Ascent will launch in 2021 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC, arriving onto Xbox Game Pass at launch. Developer Neon Giant shared more info on the game with a new video and next-gen details.

The Ascent was announced during May's Xbox 20/20 event. It's an action RPG set in The Ascent Group arcology, which Daniela Pietrosanu, communications manager at Curve Digital, describes as "a self-contained corporate-run metropolis, stretching high into the sky and filled with creatures from all over the galaxy." You're an indentured worker left stranded when The Ascent Group suddenly shuts down, creating a power war between corporations and gangs. "It’ll be your job to take up arms and uncover what’s happening before it’s too late." The trailer above shows off a little of the game's two-player co-op and the game's cyberpunk planet Veles, with the characters running through Cluster 13 on their way to a mission.

Pietrosanu confirmed that The Ascent "will target 60fps and full 4K on the Xbox Series X, offering amazing gameplay performance for the new generations of console players," adding, "we want to give you The Ascent at the best possible quality so on Xbox Series X consoles you’ll see increased fidelity, Ultra HD support, and improved loading times which will make each thrilling moment in this corporation-run universe feel ever so real."

The Ascent depicts a fully cyberpunk world. "With destructible environments, solo and co-op gameplay, bionic enhancements, customisable weapons and a story that takes you from deep slums to luxury spheres, the team has created a living, breathing cyberpunk world that rivals the best of sci-fi novels," Pietrosanu says. Don't forget, if you're waiting for that other Cyberpunk game, that you've still got a little while to go — it's now got a new release date.
