Ori and the Will of the Wisps Series X|S upgrade detailed

By Brittany Vincent,
If you plan on playing Ori and the Will of the Wisps on Xbox Series X and Series S, there's good news in your future about what the systems are capable of.

Developer Moon Studios released an update today for Ori and the Will of the Wisps to prepare it for next week's Xbox Series X and Series S debut. It's been called a "huge" upgrade, and it may end up being the push many need to experience this gorgeous platformer at long last.

Xbox Series X players will see 4K HDR at 120fps with a special 6K "Supersampled mode" that will run at 60fps. The Series S will see 1080p HDR at 120fps and 4k at 60fps. In addition to these graphical boosts, both systems will see improved audio quality, faster load times, and "instant input response" as well as stability fixes and performance upgrades "across all Xbox One SKUs".

The PC version is getting a slew of improvements as well, comparable to most of the changes Xbox Series X and Series S players will see.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps is the sequel to Ori and the Blind Forest, and it follows a white guardian spirit named Ori as he jumps, glides, climbs, swims, and explores a mesmerizing world. The game is essentially a challenging Metroidvania-styled affair, with sequential upgrades, satisfying platforming, and a narrative that may end up leaving you with tears in your eyes.

It's a great time to check out the game if you haven't done so already, or even to start up the original title if you missed out on it, too.
