This year sees the return of the biannual Cabela's Big Game Hunter series. Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2012
will take players around the world as they explore vast expanses of mountains and valleys in search of their prey.
Players will be able to climb an area to try and achieve a better angle for a shot, but at an increased risk of being spotted. Alternatively, players could try a "low elevation" route that reduces visibility but offers plenty of cover. "Dynamic weather" and natural hazards will also add to the challenge of the hunt.
The latest game in the series will include "the most realistic animals ever seen in the Cabela’s series". Each animal will have unique movements that will give players clues on their next move. Advanced stalking techniques will be needed to move rapidly through cover and close in on your target whilst avoiding detection.
The "coolest hunting rifles and shotguns available" on the market will be offered to players throughout the game. Upgrades can be purchased, but these will produce both strengths and weaknesses that are dependent to your situation. Advanced shooting techniques will need to be mastered - wind direction and bullet drop are both important. The game will come packaged with the Top Shot Elite hunting peripheral for a more authentic experience, although the game can also be purchased separately.
The game will also add new multiplayer modes. Up to four players can "take turns, work together or challenge each other" over a range of different arcade shooting galleries. New modes include Reflex and Target Shooting, but Activision is yet to release more details on these.
This game does not appear to be the "brand-new Xbox Kinect experience" that was announced on Twitter last week
. We'll bring you more details on this game when they are announced.Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2012
is due to be released on September 27th, 2011.
